Nancy Sterr is a member of Pine Shores Art Association where she continues to hone her skills in watercolor. She has won several awards at PSSA including 2nd place for her painting ‘Lizzie Rose’ and Honorable Mention for ’Imperial Wheels’. Her painting ‘Midway’ won Best in Show at the New Jersey Watercolor Society’s 2017 Associate Members Show. In 2018 Nancy was awarded Elected Membership status at the New Jersey Watercolor Society, and she was excited to have ‘Brothers’ accepted into the Philadelphia Watercolor Society’s annual exhibition. This year Nancy organized a gallery exhibit to adorn the walls and courtroom of the new Tuckerton municipal building in NJ; and, she was one of four artists requested to paint a mural for the mayor’s office in Manahawkin, NJ.

Most of her inspiration is drawn from photos of the grand kids, or of the grand-nieces and nephews, as they fish and swim at her lagoon property in Tuckerton, New Jersey. Often, she will stop along the roadside to take photos if something catches her eye. She looks for a subject that has an interest to her or to the community. One of her favorites is the fifty-seven Chevy titled ‘Fifty-Seven Shades of Chrome’, which she saw on a friend’s Facebook page.

Although Nancy is established in other mediums such as colored pencil, graphite, charcoal, acrylic and gouache, watercolor is what she finds most challenging and relaxing at the same time.
